Teaching Artist and Civic Engagement Instructor
Want to Create Your Own Superhero? Make a podcast? Publish an anthology inspired by social justice issues? I’ve taught all of these and more through workshops at 826NYC, community institutions like Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and in Brooklyn public schools. Some recent student activities can be found here.
As an Instructor with Service Learning Project, I work with elementary and middle school students to foster civic engagement. Using a student-centered process, I have helped students research and take meaningful action on issues of their choosing. Some examples include: fifth graders phone-banking senators to stop gun violence, and third graders visiting their city council member to remedy police misconduct.
